Recently I was offered the opportunity to host a
Gogo’s Crazy Bones party for all the kids in the neighborhood. Needless to say, I’m very popular with all the kids in the neighborhood.
Are you familiar with Gogo’s Crazy Bones? Gogos are small characters each with a unique color, design, personality and special ability. Kids can collect, trade and play with Gogo’s.
So how do you play with Gogo’s? It’s similar to playing marbles or jacks. The Gogo’s can be thrown with one finger. Kids shoot and score their Gogo’s. They collect the unique Gogo’s to add to their collection.
Gogo’s are produced in series. Each series contains 80 different Gogo’s in five different colors. Currently, Series 1, the Originals are available. Starting soon, Series 2, the Evolution will be available, and finally Series 3, The Explorer Series will be availabe in August 2011. Kids can collect for quantity (i.e. 10s to 100s of Gogo’s) or for rarity, having a Gogo that no one else possesses.
Why should kids play with Gogo’s? The game uses math and logic skills in the game playing and score keeping. Plus, the kids can imagine and create stories about all the Gogo’s characters.
Since our party was close to Easter, we did a Gogo’s hunt. Various Gogo’s were hidden into eggs. After the fun of the hunt, the kids got to playing with their Gogo’s. Each child took their sticker album and investigated the personalities of their Gogo’s. There was much discussion as to which Gogo’s was supreme.
Then we got to playing the games. The kids divided into groups of four to begin. There were many ulitmate battles with usually one kid becoming the big leader in collecting Gogo’s.
What surprised all the parents was that the kids had more fun creating personalities and scenarios for the Gogo’s. My boys created eleborate stories as to why their Gogo was best, why the Gogo’s came to our house and why their Gogo would be the supreme champion.
For me, the imaginative playing part was very important. Kids can play with toys all day long, but a toy that engages their creativity will be encouraged in my house.
Gogo’s can be purchased at many major retailers including Walmart, Target and Toys R Us.
