Star Wars days at LEGOLAND Schaumburg August 21 and August 22

Let the Force be with you!

Calling all Star Wars fans. LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg is celebrating everything Star Wars this weekend.

There are numerous special events through LEGOLAND including the following:

• Build a mini Star Wars Millennium Falcon that is specially designed by LEGOLAND's Master Model Builder. For $1 donation to Merlin's Magic Wand, your little builder can take his creation home.
• Help the Master Model Builder construct an eight-foot model of Yoda
• Have your picture taken with life-sized LEGO Darth Vader and LEGO R2-D2 models.
• Search for the 500 clone trooper and battle droid mini-figures located in MINILAND, the exhibit of Chicago's iconic buildings.
• Participate in a scavenger hunt to find ten characters hidden throughout MINILAND. All submission will be eligible to win 4 free annual passes to LEGOLAND
• On both Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22 at 2 p.m., there will be a STAR WARS costume contest.  Each age group winner will receive a General Grievous Starfighter Model Set (Age groups are 1-6, 7-12, and 13+). While supplies last, participants will receive a very rare White Bob Fett mini-figure.
• The LEGOLAND store will be offering special sales on various STAR WARS merchandise. Sale items include,  10% discounts applicable to most STAR WARS merchandise in the gift shop. (Excluding LEGO Death Star),  buy one get one free on all STAR WARS t-shirts, and a free STAR WARS key chain with a purchase of $75 or more (while supplies last).

In addition to the STAR WARS special events, LEGOLAND has numerous other exhibits. LEGOLAND offers a LEGO factory tour, Jungle Expedition, a 4-D cinema and two interactive rides.

Is your team up to the LEGOLAND challenge?

T-E-A-M Go Team! Does your child love LEGOS? Do you know a group of kids that are ready for a building challenge?

LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg is inviting all Chicagoland sports clubs to enter its first ever team building competition. Local youth baseball and youth hockey teams are being recruited to enter the first every team "building" competition.

For interested youth teams, please send a LEGOLAND a team picture and a description of the project that your team would like to build. The theme of the brick creation should be team spirit. Teams can visit LEGOLAND and work with a Master Model Builder to bring to life their team spirit inspired brick creation. Each entry will be judged on creativity, originality and sense of humor.

From all valid entrants, one local youth hockey team and one local youth baseball team will advance to a face-off playoff. The playoff will consist of sports-themed challenges, culminating in a giant mosaic building showdown. The winning team will walk away with a trophy made of Lego bricks.

According to Ben Sweet, General Manager at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, said: “Being a LEGOLAND Discovery Center team player won’t be as simple as just being able to follow instructions to build a great model.”

“It’s about coming together to use your team spirit to be able to build quickly and accurately, no matter how limited your selection of bricks. And we want to test Chicagoland’s sports competitiveness to find the best local team out there.”

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Schaumburg unveils new 4D movie, Clutch Powers

Does your family love playing with Legos? Legos are everywhere in our house. We love Legos. My kids would love it if our Legos would come alive.

My family was fortunate to be invited to a special premier of the new 4D movie, Clutch Powers 4D Adventure.It was a great night for the kids to enjoy everything Lego. From the red carpet to the Clutch Powers sundaes, my little ones thought that they were superstars.

This weekend, March 20, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Schaumburg is premiering their new 4D movie, Clutch Powers 4D Adventure, where Legos come alive.

Clutch Powers 4D Adventure is the first LEGOLAND movie featuring LEGO mini-figures. Clutch and his team must recover a special box for Professor Brick-a-Brack. Along the way, the team races cars, flies helicopters and scrambles to recover the special box. The final battle is against a giant rock monster.

The main focus of the movie is the teamwork between Clutch and his friends. Although they all want to get the box first, the only way to save the box from the rock monster is to work together. Without teamwork, the whole mission would be lost.

Clutch Powers 4D Adventure gives families a total experience. Not only do you visually feel like you are inside the movie, but the wind and snow make it seem as if Clutch is in the room with you.This 10 minute movie experience is a child's imagination come alive.

In addition to the new 4D movie, LEGOLAND offers tons of exhibits to explore. Between miniland Chicago, Jungleland, Castle Dragon ride and the Technicycle, the kids will have a full day of fun.

LEGOLAND Schamburg will be open additional hours during Spring Break. From March 20-April 11, LEGOLAND will be open from 10 am till 8 pm.

LEGOLAND discovery center Schaumburg celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr with a dream weekend exhibit

Legos are a must have toy for many boys and girls. Chicago is lucky to have LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg, which celebrates the joys of Legos and all the creativity that they offer.

From January 16 through January 18, 2010, LEGOLAND Schaumburg is celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr with Dream Weekend.

Throughout the Dream Weekend celebration, parents and children can participate in an interactive mural that depicts King's "I Have a Dream" speech. The guests will build brick by brick a mosaic which is more than nine feet long comprised of over 16,000 bricks. In additional to the mural, children can add their thoughts and drawings to the Park's "Dream Box." A selection of these submissions will be posted on the LEGOLAND Discovery Center website.

LEGOLAND mosaic designer Dan Morey will be available to answer questions on the exhibit.

While at the Park, families can explore a multitude of other exhibits including the Technicycle, Dragon Ride, and a tour of the Lego factory. For a complete list of all exhibits, please click here.
