Gurnee Mills kicks off Celebrating Women October 1

Celebrating Women is a month long initiative to honor and empower women everywhere. This program will launch at Gurnee Mills on Saturday, October 1.

The kick off event will feature the following.

• Information from American Cancer Society's Strides for Breast Cancer, learning about early detection and prevention
• Inspirational testimony from a breast cancer survivor
• Project Runway style presentation staged by the students from Illinois Institute of Art Schaumburg. These designers will showcase runway fashions inspired by Miss America. Each designer will share their inspiration story. A judge's favorite will be awarded. The designs will be displayed all month.

A donation of $3 to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated for this event.

Zumba for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fundraiser July 17

On Sunday, July 17, there will be a fundraiser for St. Jude at the Saddle Up Saloon where participants will Zumba for three hours.

From 1 till 4 pm at Saddle Up Saloon, everyone can burn some calories and give a little back to a good cause. Saddle Up Saloon is located at 4440 W. Ogden Avenue at Route 59, Aurora, Illinois.

What is zumba? The Zumba® program is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party™ that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health. 

During the St. Jude fundraiser, everyone can shake, shimmy and dance their support for those children who can't.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

To participate in this event, there is a required $50 donation to St. Jude. The event includes 3 hours of zumba, light refreshments, and raffle prizes.Any additional donations or contributions to the event are welcomed.

May 20 is cop on a rooftop at Dunkin Donuts, support the Special Olympics

All around Illinois, you might see a cop or two on the roof a Dunkin Donuts. And these cops need your help.

Today, May 20 is Cop on a Rooftop event. This event is a fundraiser for the Illinois Special Olympics.

By donating money to the cause, you can help get the cops off the roof.

In addition to supporting a great cause,every donation gets you a coupon for a FREE Dunkin Donuts donut.

This special event is at select Dunkin Donut locations. If you don't see a cop on the roof, that location may not be participating.

So when you're out today, please consider a donation to the Special Olympics and get those cops off the roof!
