Wiggle, giggle and ziggle - Radio Flyer Ziggle, review

Kids like, and in some cases need, to get outside and play. The worse thing that a parent can hear is I'm bored. When riding a bike or scooter gets old, what can a parent suggest?  What toy can create active, physical play and keep the kids engaged. The must have holiday outdoor toy is the Radio Flyer Ziggle.

The Radio Flyer Ziggle is a new, fun way to ride. All you do is twist the front and wiggle the back and off you go. Here are some of the aspects to the Ziggle.
  • Twist the front and wiggle the back, just get on and go

  • Four caster wheels for a fun, fast ride

  • 360⁰ degree spin out action

  • Adjustable seat grows with your child

  • Grip tape for feet provide added control

  • Padded hand grips for comfort

  • Solid steel frame
My kids enjoyed the spinning aspect of the Ziggle. They could do all types of twists and turns on the driveway. In their words, they were good stunt riders. Unlike their normal bikes, the kids felt that they could do more tricks. It was fun to spin out, take fast turns and make unusual patterns. The only downside was that they couldn't jump (that's ok in this mom's book). Still, once the kids mastered the wiggling, they were able to get the Ziggle moving fast. The most impressive is the spins and turns. It was as if they were race track racing.

I liked how the kids needed a little coordination to get the Ziggle moving and grooving. Too bad I'm not small enough to fit in the Ziggle. I thought that it would be a great ab workout. The movement comes from moving back and forth/side to side. It's a great change from a "normal" bike.

For the younger children, the Ziggle can be a great way to introduce them to a moving toy. Since a child just gets on and goes, there is no learning curve like a bike. Many parents know the frustration of trying to get kids to pedal correctly. With the Ziggle kids just need to wiggle and move. Any parent knows that kids are capable of that task.

Another great aspect is that the Ziggle can grow with your kids. With an age range from 3-8, kids can get a lot of use out of this toy. The seat is easily adjustable. I would feel good about purchasing this item as a gift, because of its extended use. Being a Radio Flyer item, I know that it is built to last.

As a parent, I would recommend that the kids wear helmets while riding. Just like any bike or scooter, a helmet is important. Even though the kids are close to the ground, they could fall off.

The Radio Flyer Ziggle is available at many major retails. The suggested retail price is $49.99.
