Revving engines, smashed cars, massive fun at Monster Jam

Having never been to Monster Jam, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I knew that trucks would drive fast, cars would be smashed and it might be loud. These assumption were right plus so much more.

Over the weekend, Monster Jam, a Feld Entertainment production, played Allstate Arena. The show was an exciting thrill for my family. From the moment the lights dimmed and the engines revved, my kids were on the edge of their seats.

Many of the famous cars competed in the events. Fan favorites like the Grave Robber, Max D and El Toro Loco flew over jumps, completed wheelies and smashed anything in their path. An added bonus was when several drivers gave souvenirs to members of the crowd. One lucky audience member got a pick of Max D.

In addition to the monster trucks, there were some ATV competitions too. Chicago competed against Miami in a race throw down. Also, the high flying competition riders made the ATVs fly across the arena. The flip stunts were awesome.

If you plan on attending this show, I would suggest bringing or buying earplugs/ear covers. It is loud. The jet-engine powered car is especially loud (the show does pre-warn about the decibel level). Having some type of ER cover can help make the evening more enjoyable for everyone.

Monster Jam is traveling the nation. Be sure to find a show near you.

Disclosure: My family received free tickets to this show. All opinions are my own.
