PinkTogether 2011, sharing stories, supporting each other, together we are stronger - review/giveaway

Like many other women, I have a family member who is fighting breast cancer. While her prognosis is positive, it has been a difficult time for her. Between treatments for the cancer and the side-effects from the additional medications, each step forward has unforeseen changes on our lives.

But, we are not alone. There are thousands of other families who struggle with diagnosis, treatments and just the day to day activities of breast cancer. That's what Pinktogether.com is all about.

PinkTogether.com has a motto "individually we are strong, but together we are stronger."  This on-line community brings together people who have been touched by breast cancer. Whether you are a survivor or a support, your story could bring a ray of hope to someone else's struggle.

During the month of October, General Mills will donate $1 for each Message of Hope that is sent to someone who has shared their story on PinkTogether.com  (up to $25,000). These funds are in addition to the $2 million donation General Mills is making to the Komen organization.

This year consumers can choose how $1 million of this donation will be shared between two important Komen programs: the Treatment and Assistance Program, which assists women in securing care they otherwise may not be able to afford, and Prevention Research, which helps unlock the keys to preventing breast cancer. The decision will be Mother’s Day 2012 – Sunday, May 13.

This October General Mills will also be turning the packaging of participating products pink in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To get the word out about Pink Together 2011, MyBlogSpark and General Mills have generously given me a Pink Together prize pack to giveaway.

    1. Yes, I've been touched my breast cancer. Not myself personally, but my aunt had a breast cancer scare when they found some masses in one of her breasts. But after they were examened they turn out to be beniegn so we were all very happy. Ever since then, my aunt buys everything and anything that supposts breast cancer awareness.

    26. I am a breast cancer survivor. I found the lump 6 months after we got married. At that time I had to leave my husband for 3 months to go have treatment. (We don't have that available here in our small town.) Luckily my husband was able to fly to Az. where I was having treatment so we could spend our first Valentine's Day together. He is such a wonderful person to have stuck through this with me. He could have easily bailed! I think we have a stronger marriage because of what we went through in the beginning.
