Madonna's Rebel Heart, romantic and rebellious songs from the iconic singer/songwriter

I admit it. I have been and always will be a Madonna fan. From my younger days when I would belt out Like a Prayer to more recent techno-influenced songs, like Hung Up, that fuel my runs, Madonna's music has always been part of my playlist. With her most recent release, Rebel Heart, Madonna seamless blends the dance influence beats and provoking song lyrics in this introspective album.

The first song to be released from the album, Living For Love, is a upbeat dance song. With an infectious grove and uplifting lyrics, this dance anthem will be become a quick favorite. While the beat is enticing, the lyrics shouldn't be overlooked. Like many other songs on the album, the lyrics offer the reflection on life that is inherent in Madonna's music.

Other songs that I keep hitting repeat for are HeartBreakCity and Devil Pray. HeartBreakCity cuts to the core of a failed relationship. From bitter feelings towards an ex to blame for the wrong choices, the emotions are understandable to anyone who has loved and lost.

Many of the songs still push the controversial envelope. For example, Holy Water samples lyrics from Vogue while Iconic questions the fickle nature of fame. While not an entire album for younger audiences, this latest release from Madonna will be appreciated by her core fans.

Rebel Heart shows that Madonna still has relevance in the current music scene. Though many have borrowed from her, she remains the grand dame of pop music.

Madonna’s 13th studio album Rebel Heart was released March 10th on Interscope Records.  Rebel Heart can be purchased on iTunes.
