Cheese and chocolate, a perfect holiday pairing

How many people like cheesecake?  This decadent dessert is a popular favorite especially during the holiday season. But, eating a big piece of cheesecake can lead to the holiday creep (holiday weight gain). If you are craving that chocolatey, cheesy, gooey goodness, a great idea is the Cheddar S'Mores from Cabot Creamery.

Everyone seems to love s'mores. There is something about melted chocolate in between crispy graham crackers that is so yummy. This version developed by chef, Jimmy Kennedy from Cabot Creamery, combines sharp cheddar cheese and sweet chocolate to create a yummy treat (with a lot fewer calories than a slice of cheesecake).

Cheddar S'Mores

Ingredients:

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place eight graham cracker squares on baking sheet; top each with segment of chocolate followed by piece of cheese. Top with remaining graham cracker squares.
  3. Bake for about 4 minutes or just until cheese and chocolate start to melt.
  4. Remove from oven and press down gently on each S’more. Serve warm, or let cool to serve later at room temperature.
This recipe and many other recipes are available on the Cabot website. Cabot Creamery Cooperative has been in continuous operation in Vermont for almost 100 years, since 1919. For the farm families who own Cabot today – the family commitment comes from the 1,200 farms located throughout New England and upstate New York, and 100% of profits go to the farmers.

This year think outside of the cookie cutter holiday treats. Expand your palate and your enjoy a Cabot Cheddar S'More this holiday season.
