When I chose to work at home, I thought about setting up a home office. Of course, my office sometimes moves with me (swim meets, football practices, etc), but I need a home base for those moments to get things done. I need a space to myself, just as if I put into a normal 40 hour a week job.

I like what you said about how a desk pad is a great way to define a work space. At home, my kids love to sit at my work desk at color. I think if I make it more official looking, my kids will get the hint, and color elsewhere.
