Six Flags Great America, thrills and excitement from day to Ignite - review

My family was provided with the opportunity to visit Six Flags Great America as the company's guest.

When weather warms up and school comes to a close, the kids have one question on their minds. When are we going to Six Flags Great America?  A summer isn't complete without at least one day riding roller coasters, getting wet and experiencing endless thrills that an amusement park can offer.

Last week, the kids and I headed north to Gurnee, Illinois to Six Flags Great America ready for a day of fun. Since we are familiar with many of the rides, the kids had a list must ride. First up was the Viper. This wooden roller coaster boosts -  different this summer is that the Viper is riding backwards. I had never been on a backward roller coaster. Not knowing when the drops, turns and plummets would occur made the ride more exhilarating.

Other favorites of the day included American Eagle, the Whizzler, and the Dark Knight. The kids loved the darkness of the indoor Dark Knight (but we missed the photo opp, everyone was looking down).

Since our day was a little cool and rainy, we did a few water rides, like Logggers Run and Buccaneer Battle. Our day was geared toward thrills. While we don't meet all the height requirements for the extreme thrill rides (for example X Flight or Superman),  we took on every adventure available to us. From dizzy twists to stomach clenching drops, the kids squealed with delight at every one.

At the end of the evening, the new show, Ignite, illuminates the sky. With a laser light show and fireworks, everyone gets a big bang to end of a day's adventure.

Six Flags Great America is located in Gurnee, Illinois. Ticket prices range depending on offers.

Disclosure:  My family received 2 tickets to visit Six Flags Great America. All opinions are my own.

  2. It sounds like you all had a lot of fun!! I have been to other Six Flags parks, but never Great America. Now that it is the closest to our home, we may need to plan a visit!
