Stepping up to get moving, be prepared and say yes to all summer offers with Claritin

When summer hits, everyone wants to be outside and enjoying the sunshine. Unfortunately, the great outdoors can make allergy issues heightened. Unless your family is fine with camping out in the basement while everyone is at the pool, I doubt that the summer will be enjoyable. What is the solution to the outdoor allergy problem - Claritin.

During one of our many days at the pool, a group of my friends chatted about what we do to stay healthy, happy and active during the summer. (sorry no pictures of the ladies in bathing suits - we might be active, but we're anti-bathing suit pictures). The conversation varied from finding adequate resting time to healthy quick dinners. Here are some of our thoughts.

Phrase of the summer - when in doubt, say yes!
Living in the moment and being present is an important lesson to our children. Still there are times when we don't want to take every opportunity that is presented. Looking back, no one wants to say, we should have gone; it would have been great; what a fantastic memory. If the activity, event, or idea is possible for your family, say yes. I'm not saying to over-extend yourself, but don't turn down opportunity just because.

The couch isn't your friend - get moving!
Of course there are days when all we want to do is lie on the couch and watch movies. Still, our bodies (and even our minds) will thank us for the physical activity. There are many easy ways to add some physical activities into our daily lives. It doesn't necessarily mean heading to the gym for an hour. A few suggestions were riding our bikes to the pool instead of driving, walking to the frozen yogurt store and even just making extra laundry trips up and down the stairs. More activity is easy to incorporate if we just break it down into parts. Maybe with the extra activity, next time we're be able to show ourselves in bathing suits.

Be prepared, no matter the circumstances
Have you ever noticed that when you're prepared for an event or situation, you feel confident. Why not have your family prepared all year round. Think about certain important areas in your family's life. Each month consider a checklist to make sure that you are prepared for any event and there are fewer uncertainties. 3. I try to always be prepared when going out. I usually have back up snacks, clothes, and sunblock in the car, just in case. A few towels as well. We try and get out often, but sometimes it's just too hot.

  4. Love this! We have the worst allergies ever and never seem to carry anything. I'll be downloading that checklist for the future

  5. I have Claritin in my bag at all times, enough for all 3 of us should we get stuck sneezing up a storm outside while walking through NYC or even when visiting the relatives in suburbia!
