Count the bones to victory in Shelby's Snack Shack Game

With summer here, everyone is at the beach. What's a fun activity at the beach - playing (and burying items) in the sand. But what about those days when fun in the sun isn't possible. Time to break out the board games for an afternoon of play. With Shelby's Snack Shack Game, by Educational Insights, kids get to play in the sand without the mess.

Shelby's Snack Shack Game is fun and educational game for children ages 4 and up.With two to four players, everyone has fun counting Shelby's bones.

The rules to the game are simple. First the youngest player spins the first wheel. This week has a variety of symbols. Each symbol relates to a game action, i.e dig for bones, steal bones or lose a turn. The second spinner tells each player how many bones to collect. The player who digs up the most bones at the end of the game wins.

For my kids the most fun (and sometimes the most challenging) part of the game was using the Shelby Squeezer to uncover (or pick-up) the bones. Small hands could need some assistance with the squeezer. For most school age kids, the squeezer is fun. It is an opportunity to bark, growl and imagine with Shelby dog.

While the game is fun, it is educational too. The counting, adding and subtracting aspect are easy for the young players. It is a perfect way supplement classroom skills at home. Kids won't complain when learning is fun.

Shelby's Snack Shack Game is published by Educational Insights. The game is retails for $21.99. It can be purchased online at Educational Insights website.

Sounds simple, but be careful—spin a sneaky seagull, and you’ll lose some bones or get sidetracked chewing a flip flop and miss your turn! 2–4 players.
