Make sure devices are charged- Whether it is your iPhone or the kids DS, make sure that all those devices have a full battery at the start of the trip. While car chargers are available, the bickering due to "dead" devices and chargers can add unneeded tension to any car ride.
Pack an accessible change of clothes- Spills, mishaps and the occasional car sickness can happen. It can be more convenient to have a change of clothes easily available to get rid of the mess. Having a change separate from the packed suitcases means that you don't have to undo that carefully packed car. Also a couple of cheap, plain white towels can make a quick clean-up of those messes too.
Travel games- The required family togetherness can be a little overwhelming. Occasionally take a break from the electronic diversions with a game or two. From travel bingo to would you rather, there are several games that can make travel time pass quickly.
Enjoy the moment- Of course, this statement is much easier said than done. Many hours of sitting close to one another can cause bickering. Still, these trips can create memories that last a lifetime. You might look back and laugh uncontrollability about the holiday travel of 2012.
Most importantly be safe when you and your family travel.
