There are few artists that have span several decades. The test of time comes from an underlying talent. Kylie Minogue is one of those artists.
From the early 80s till today, Kylie has been a strong force in popular culture. From the 80s classic Locomotion to a more current song like Can't Get You Out of My Head, these songs with infectious beats and catchy lyrics are ones that everyone knows.
In Kylie's latest release The Abbey Road Sessions, Kylie reinvents songs that have span her impressive career. These classics are given a different twist with the addition of a full orchestra and different arrangements. Recorded at the iconic Abbey Road studios, Kylie challenges the perception of her music as cookie cutter pop beats.
I have several Kylie Minogue albums. Usually I run along to her upbeat dance tracks which make my workout a fast paced one. With this album, her music is more about the lyric and the arrangement. I am impressed that a song I blindly run to can have such depth when paired with an orchestra. Even the popular 80s song Locomotion is enjoyable with the new arrangement.
If you are looking for an album to play during a dinner party or while relaxing with a nice glass of wine, I think that the Abbey Road Sessions is for you.
