Rizzoli & Isles, a blast from the past becomes the suspect - review

Sometimes when I look back at the past, everything seems rosy. From the stellar grades to the fabulous social life, I remember that I had it all. In actuality, I had no social life but really good grades. So one out of two isn't bad. Usually these recollections happen because there is a reunion around the corner.

In season 2 of the hit television show Rizzoli and Isles, Jane attends her high school reunion with Maura. While the unlikely friends start the event with frolic and rivalry, the fun is short lived because classmates are murdered. It seems that the bad omens follow this crime fighting duo. Throughout the course of events, Jane must recall events from high school to help her solve the murders.

Have you ever wondered how we can look back at specific moments in our lives for help in our current situations?  The old adage, history repeats itself, often comes to mind. Sometimes we can avoid past mistakes. Other times we are doomed to fail again.

I am very fortunate to have a strong recall of events. While my talent may be annoying to some, for me, I find the ability helpful. For example, I remember a friend from high school who liked to deflect blame from herself onto me. Usually I didn't do too many things wrong, but this friend would like to point the fingers in my direction. She wouldn't say that I broke the teacher's potted plant (because she did), but she would say that I was forgot to turn in my paper. She would deflect her wrong-doing by accusing me of bad behavior. I always disliked these actions and I've learned to avoid people with similar characteristics in my life.

What do you think about relying on the past to help your present situations?  Do you have anecdote?  What about Jane's predicament at her high school reunion?
