With all the self help books out there, we know that toxic people should be permanently cut out of our lives. Unfortunately, dissecting these people from our lives is easier said than done. Jane knows the dangers of dangerous people weaving his way back into her life.
In Season 2 of Rizzoli and Isles, Jane is forced to interact with one of her nemesis, the serial killer Charles Hoyt. Luring Jane with information on a murder, Hoyt tries to worm his way back into Jane's life. Why is it the people you don't want in your life continually figure out a way to get back into it.
Like many of people, I've had a few toxic friends that have crossed my path. Looking back, I'm not sure why I ever let them into my life. Maybe I was seeking some adventure or excitement.
I remember when I first returned home after law school, I felt isolated. After years of studying, I wanted to let loose and enjoy all that life has to offer. Unfortunately, this desire to be free of responsibilities had me crossed paths with some people that didn't have my best interest at heart. Of course, we could go out at all hours and party. But, when I needed some assistance during a difficult family tragedy, no one could be found. In the end, I felt worse and even more isolated. I decided then that anyone in my life had to bring something of value to the relationship. Just like Jane, I can't let a single kernel of beneficial information color my judgment.
