Everyone needs a little "me" time. For some people it can be a long bath or a vigorous bike ride on a wooded trail. For me, my ideal "me" time is a good book and a glass of wine. The relaxation that I can get from just 30 minutes can help me get over my long week.

Of course, I have to have a good glass of wine. I want full body without being over-done. My wine to be versatile. If I'm eating a snack of cheese or an after dinner piece of chocolate, I need my wine to be a strong compliment to many situations. I've found a brand of good wine for all occasions, d'Allessandro wine.

The d'Alessandro brand of wines offers several varieties that can fit many occasions. From crisp, refreshing whites to full-bodied reds, d'Alessandro varieties can pair well with a dinner party or a moment of relaxation.

I recently had the opportunity to try the Nero d’Avola 2008. According to the d'Alessandro website, the  Nero d’Avola 2008 is a deep ruby-red and complex wine, representing the best of traditional Sicily. Suggested food pairings include grilled meats sand hearty fish such as swordfish with cherry tomatoes and capers.

I found the  Nero d’Avola 2008 very complex without being overpowering. While I primarily drank this wine without a food accompaniment, I thought that wine on its own very well. Sometimes with full bodied wine, there is a strong tannin aftertaste. This wine was smooth and very drinkable. I could see where it would pair well with a grilled steak, tenderloin or even a bison burger.

At a price of $15, it is a very good moderate wine. I would consider keeping a few bottles in my house for impromptu guests or giving this wine as a hostess gift.

d'Alessandro wines have other varieties including a Nero d’Avola/Syrah and the d’Alessandro Inzoli, a white wine. These varieties have a price point between $15 and $30. For a store near you, please visit their website at www.dalessandrowine.com

The d'Alessandro Nero d’Avola 2008 was the perfect accompaniment to my moment of me time. After a glass on the patio in the sunshine, I was refreshed and ready to start my busy week. Are you ready for your me time?  Maybe a bottle of d'Alessandro wine can relax you.
