We were Fully Charged at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus - review

If you’ve turned on the television or driven down the highway in Chicago recently, you know that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus is in town.   This touring show is called Fully Charged. It is full of high energy performances that will keep you on the edge of your set. 

Last week my family and I attended the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus performance of Fully Charged.  I remember going to the circus as a child. I was so excited to share this experience with my children. Overall, the show is a great balance of traditional circus performances and updated, thrilling acts. 

Did you know that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus has a pre-performance one-hour before the show?  Kids, and adults, can interact with various circus performers, try on circus costumes and even see Alice the elephant paint. This forty minute event is a great way to get the whole family excited about the various performances. My son was able to try a balancing act with one of the clowns. He was so excited that he was “part of the show.”

The Fully Charged show has two acts with acrobats, clowns and amazing animal performances. Whether you are a circus veteran or this is your first performance, the fired-up, super charged performances will amaze you. 

This show was our family’s first time to the circus and my boys were completely intrigued. I asked each of them which part was their favorite. 

Both boys agreed that the Human Torch was totally cool (fire and flying through the air is a big hit with boys). From a cross-bow, The Human Torch 80 feet at 65 miles per hour.   

Their second favorite varied between the tiger act and wheels of steel. Tabayara, the animal trainer, masterfully guided the tigers through a variety of dangerous acts. The Ferandez Brothers exhibit remarkable athleticism on the Twin Turbines of Steel.  Both acts definitely got oohhs and ahhs from my boys. 

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus will be in Chicago for a few more days. The Fully Charged performance will be at the United Center from November 16 through November 27.
