Back again this year is Naperville Public Library's Summer Reading program. This year the program has three programs, infants, kids and teens/adults. The program runs from June 6 till July 31.
New to the program this year is that non-Naperville library card holders can participate in the summer reading program for a cost of $5.
The summer reading programs details are as follows:
Rubber Ducky, birth to three years:
- Each child registered will receive a Rubber Ducky reading log with suggestions for 12 early literacy activities.
- After the parent and child complete six (6) activities, they can bring the reading log and receive a rubber duck prize.
- After the parent and child complete twelve (12) activities, they can return the reading log and receive a board book.
Children, Midsummer Knight's Read, 3 years through fifth grade
- Start reading or listening. Pre-readers are encouraged to use suggested Early Literacy activities for some of their “reading time.” Attend library programs counts too. Some optional, alternate activities are also suggested for readers.
- Color reading and listening time on your game sheet.
- Receive a prize for each completed quest at any Children’s Department.
- Every time you complete a quest you are entered to win the grand prize raffle
Teens, entering grades 6 through twelve:
- Read or Listen to 2 books
- Submit your log for a prize (online or paper)
- Review one of the books you read (optional)
- Receive a prize for every 2 books you read (up to a maximum of 4 prizes)
- For every 2 books you read, receive one entry in our iPad2 Grand Prize Raffle (maximum of 4 entries). Once you have read 8 books you have completed the program.
Adults:
- Read or Listen to 4 books
- Submit your log for a prize (online or paper)
- Review one of the books you read (optional)
- Receive a prize for every 4 books read (up to a maximum of 4 prizes)
- Enter the Raffle with every 4 books read (up to a maximum of 16 books) - Raffle Prize List
Make this summer about books in your family. Remember the love of reading starts when you are young, but lasts a lifetime.
