Everyone has different reasons to be active. I would like to say that I workout because I love the feeling. The burning muscles, the sweat, the runner's high do not motivate me. I workout because I like to eat. Yes, I love the decadent desserts and a crispy glass of white wine. But I workout because it means that I can enjoy life without the guilt of eating what I want. It is part of my life balance.

When it comes to working out, there are times when I amp up my workouts for a special occasion. There is no way that I'm going on a beach vacation without doing several weeks of ab work. From the planks to the crunches, I will do them all willingly to make sure that I don't look like a beach whale. 

Since summer is quickly approaching, my workouts have increased to get ready for shorts, tank tops and cute summer dresses. This past month my workout has focus on cardio (spin classes and the treadmill), followed by squats and ab work. I don't like lifting weights (probably because I have dropped too many on my toes) so I focus on trying to get lean. 

I think that everyone should find a program that they can enjoy and stick with. Some people love hot yoga and some love cross-training. My suggestion is to find what you like and you'll be more likely to stick with the program.
