When
visiting a city on vacation, the major attractions get the most
attention. For example, Chicago's Navy Pier, SkyDeck and Museum Campus
are popular tourist attractions.
But, these locations are just a few of the many places that comprise
Chicago's vast history and culture. Even our family, who lives in the
shadows of the Windy City, hasn't explored every aspect. A program like
Urban Adventure Quest is a great way to see more than the top attractions.
Urban
Adventure Quest is where a scavenger hunt meets the Amazing Race. Using the
program on your smartphone, participants answer clues to take them on a
tour of a city. The distance travel is roughly 2 miles on foot and takes
2-4 hours.
Our
family spent a Sunday doing the Urban Adventure Quest in Chicago. Starting in a
centralized location, we began our game. The first clue sent us toward
the river and a usually overlooked monument. About 20 questions and two hours later, our journey was complete. The kids enjoyed answering the
questions, seeing other important structures to the city that are often
overlooked, and hanging out as a family.
The
program suggests certain materials to bring with you and I would highly
suggest bringing them. I was happy to have a pen and paper when we
needed to do a word search (rather difficult on just a smart phone).
Plus, this game is played on your phone. Make sure that your battery is
fully charge and you have good coverage.
Also,
this game requires good communication and problem solving. Some of the
questions were a little hard for young children. I would recommend
preparing everyone for the walking aspect. If you have kids that get
tired easy, make a plan for specific breaks.
Urban Adventure Quest can be purchased online at http://www.urbanadventurequest.com/login.aspx. Depending on the location and duration of the quest, the cost varies. The Chicago quest costs $49.99.
If you are ready to put your problem solving skills to the test and explore a city, sign up for Urban Adventure Quest today.
