Grab coffee and a donut, Entenmanns, Salvation Army and Victor Cruz celebrate National Donut Day - giveaway

Early in the morning, driving past a bakery, the glorious smell of freshly baked donuts can bring me to my knees. I would love nothing more than to sit with the morning newspaper, drink a strong cup of coffee and enjoy a sweet, tasty donut. On Friday, June 7, National Donut Day I will be enjoying this exact scenario.

This year represents the 76th National Donut Day. The Salvation Army started National Donut Day during the Great Depression as a way to raise funds and bring awareness to The Salvation Army's social services programs. The day commemorates the donut lassies, female Salvation Army volunteers who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending, home-cooked meals and donuts for soldiers on the front lines.

For the third year, Entenmann's has joined with the Salvation Army to spread the word about National Donut Day. Donut aficionado and Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz has joined the National Donut Day team. The Entenmann's celebrity ambassador said “I grew up on Entenmann’s donuts right across the river in New Jersey and to this day always have a box of Entenmann’s Crumb Topped donuts in the house. It really is an honor to be recognized as such a big Entenmann’s fan, while honoring The Salvation Army on their very special day.”

To get everyone involved and excited about National Donut Day, for every new “Like” on Entenmann’s Facebook page from May 1^st to June 15^h the company will donate $1 to The Salvation Army, up to $30,000 (http://www.facebook.com/entenmanns).  Also, fans can also enter to win ‘Free Donuts for a Year’ and additional prizes through a sweepstakes link on the Entenmann’s Facebook page.
