So tell me if this sounds familiar. You are rushing to the sport practice of the night and the kids have reading homework or your younger child needs a distraction to pass the time. If you have sat at a football field on many nights, you know that keeping children occupied for several hours can be torture for a parent. So, what can you do? Of course, you can bring a bag full of distraction, but that mess accumulates in your car. You can run your car and waste gas for a couple of hours (not likely with high gas costs). So what's left? In our world, we use the iPad as our go to distraction.
While iPads are sturdy, I would prefer for my kids not to be in control of the device. I definitely don't want it dropped (nothing is indestructible). I'm now using the iMagnet Magnetic Mount.
What I like about this car magnetic mount system is that it is non-permanent. The removable case can be used as a supplement to your other iPad cases. Inside the sleeve is a magnet. While the magnet will not interfere with your device, it will hold your iPad firmly in place. With the sleeve attached, you can use the stand to mount your iPad. Whether you want to mount the iPad in the car, on the kitchen counter or the kid's dresser, the mount will stay securely in place.
At the same time, you can easily remove the mount when you want. There is no residue or glue. The mount is suction based, so it can stick to almost anything. Plus, this special sticky suction cup is twice as powerful as traditional suction cups.
Our family has been using the iPad mount. While I haven't put our on the moon roof, I did use it on the back of the seats for a car trip. Also I used it on the passenger side. It was perfect to keep directions for our trip in a easily readable location (I was the navigator, not driver- we were safe).
Other fun uses for this car mount would be for camping trips. You could mount the iPad to the back tailgate for music or movies for the kids. Possibly you could use the sky apps for star gazing too.
The iMagnet Magnetic Mount can be purchased at Amazon.com. It retails for Right now you can get 10% off your purchase with the code L8W8DVBT. This discount is valid until December 31, 2012.
