Paul the Matchmaker, advice your mother wouldn't give

The dating world can be a complicated and probably a scary place. Think about it. Meeting someone new while trying to present your best self can be a daunting task. Of course, many people could use some advice trusted friend or advisory, enter Paul the Matchmaker.

I've been watching Paul the Matchmaker episodes on Hulu and the unorthodox methods of his matchmaking makes me laugh. Some of my favorite episodes involve Paul planning a running dinner. It's basically a progressive dinner party. Of course with Paul, the event is a total train wreck. Paul insists on over-planning/scheduling the event. What he doesn't realize is that the couples would be far better off just being themselves without this interference.

These episodes remind me of many parties where the host is too concerned with a schedule than the guests fun. Who cares if dinner is 45 minutes late or everyone drinks beer versus wine.  If there is good conversation, a few laughs and people enjoy themselves, it doesn't matter that your plans aren't followed to every detail.

What can you learn from Paul the Matchmaker?  Everyone laughs at the person who can't be himself. Be confident in yourself and everything will come naturally.  What would your advice be to these couples?  Share your thoughts below.

Check out all the episodes of Paul the Matchmaker on Hulu.  You'll have a laugh or two watching the extremes of Paul's tactics.

Disclosure: I have been hired by Warner Bros WBWord division to raise awareness for Paul the Male Matchmaker.
