HEXBUG Nano - glow in the dark bugs took over our Halloween
Being a mom of little boys, they love creepy, crawly creatures. I, on the other hand, would rather have something soft and cuddly in my world. But one thing that we agree on is that HEXBUGS are fun bugs to have in the house.
Are you familiar with HEXBUGS? HEXBUGS are robotic creatures that react to light and sound. There are a variety of bugs, including spiders, inchworms, crabs, larva and the nano. All of these creatures react to their surroundings, change directions and have intelligent bug like attributes. HEXBUGS were named by the Toy Industry Association with the Specialty Toy of the Year Award.
HEXBUGS were created to give children a positive experience with robots at an young age. This year, HEXBUGS developed new creatures the glow in the dark nano habitat and larva. The larva is outfitted with an infrared sensor that enables it to detect and avoid objects in its path before ever coming into contact with them.
Over the weekend, our house was filled with boys and girls who wanted to see the glow in the dark nano habitats, larva and some zombie nanos.Needless to say it got everyone into the Halloween spirit.
The feedback from the kids was overall very positive. The most fun part was building bridges for the bugs to race. The kids would laugh hysterically when the bugs flipped on their backs and couldn't get up. Who knew that little legs bouncing in the air would cause such delight.
A few of the kids would sneak the bugs into the bathroom to watch them glow in the dark. Luckily none ran into a shower or toilet. The glow in the dark aspect was a fun bonus.
The thing to remember with HEXBUGS is to make sure and turn them off when you aren't playing with them. The little batteries can run out and then the kids are sad that the bugs won't run.
HEXBUGS are available at retailers nationwide or online at http://www.hexbug.com/. The various bugs range in retail price from $5.99 to $24.99 depending on the size and style.
Plus, just in time for Christmas, there is a HEXBUG ornament! It will make a great stocking stuffer.
Disclosure: I hosted a HEXBUG nano Halloween party for MomSelect. I was given HEXBUGS for the party. All opinions are 100% mine and were not influenced by any person or entity. For my complete disclosure policy, please see www.more4momsbuck.com/disclosure.
