Preserving family traditions and memories with Shutterfly photo books - review and giveaway

Family traditions are important to me. Whether it's recording milestones or having annual parties, the sense of tradition is what I want instill in my boys.

When my oldest son turned one our family held a huge birthday party. My husband liked the idea so much it have become an annual event. The party, called Mattoberfest, is a celebration of my son's birthday, German Oktoberfest and a neighborhood celebration. We have between 50-100 people over, eat tons of food and have a drink or two.

What I've done over the years is create photo books of all the parties. Each year has its own photo book. Every photo book is full of memories. I keep all of them in my office. Sometimes I flip through them and have a good laugh. We have used them over the years to bring to school to share in the boys classes for star student.

This year I am thinking of doing something new for Mattoberfest. I think that we might use some of the older photos in a special birthday party invitation. I would like to send the invitation to family members that are out of state and can't attend the party. I think that it will make them feel included although they are far away. 

Another fun idea to do after the party is to use photo greeting cards as thank you notes. Usually I try to find a birthday cake picture or family photo to use as a photo thank you card. I order extra cards to put in the kids' baby books as a memento and reminder of all their birthday parties over the years.
