Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flax Seed, review & giveaway

We all know that good nutrition is key to keeping healthy and strong. But incorporating all the nutrients, fiber and vitamins that we should eat in our food can be a difficult job. That's why some helpful nutritional supplements can aid in our goals to be healthy.

For me, adding flax seed to my diet is an important and easy way to increase my fiber intake. Luckily, Tropical Traditions, a leader in organic products, has a great whole golden flax seed.

What is flax seed? It's a source of fatty acid and protein. Many studies have shown flax seed can be an added benefit to a balanced diet.

Why use whole flax seed?  Once flax seed is exposed to light and oxygen it breaks down. Heat and exposure harms flax seed and can make it toxic. Grinding flax seed, in a simple coffee grinder, can help maximize the most nutritional benefits. In our house, we have an inexpensive coffee grinder dedicated for flax seed. I throw a few in the grinder as I'm making my morning cereal. I add the flax seed on top of my cereal. It's a great way for me to have some additional fiber.

Flax seed can easily be hidden in a variety of foods. From sprinkling it in yogurt or adding it to cereal flax seed provide some added nutrition to a variety of foods. The extra fiber from flax seed can be a benefit to many people's diets.

Would you like to try Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flax Seed? Tell me if you have a recipe/food that you use or would like to use flax seed with.

  18. I put flax seeds on all kinds of things-- I read the other day that you can substitute flax seeds for eggs in baking:
    To replace one egg:
    1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
3 tablespoons water (or other liquid)

Stir together until thick and gelatinous.

You can also use whole flaxseeds:

    1 tablespoon whole flaxseeds
4 tablespoons water (or other liquid)

Process seeds in a blender to a fine meal, add liquid and blend well.
