Naperville celebrates Week of the Young Child

Week of the Young Child is a national event that Naperville has some special events planned for this week.  The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is “to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.”

In our community, Naperville Park District is offering two free events to celebrate this week.

April 11: Wonderful World of Wheels 11 am – 1 pm

Does your child love trucks, diggers, ambulances and fire trucks? Head over to the Whole Foods parking lot for a fun event. Preschoolers can see, touch and experience a variety of community vehicles and the community helpers who drive them.

This event is recommended for children ages 1-5. The event is free.

Whole Foods is located at 2607 W. 75th Street. The vehicles will be in the West Parking lot. This program is presented by Valley Honda.

April 16: Musical performance by Joel Frankel, 6-7 pm

Joel Frankel will perform a show for young children and their parents. Mr. Frankel is a singer, songwriter and children’s entertainer. His original songs have been heard on radio, The Learning Channel, MTV and NBC.

This free musical performance will be held at Patterson Elementary School, which is located at 3731 Lawrence Dr. Please bring a blanket or other item to sit on. Seating is limited to the floor only.
