Naperville Public Library children programming for March


It’s the week of March and Naperville Public Library is getting ready for a great Spring. 

Here is a list of special children programs for March. Don’t forget about all the weekly storytimes that Naperville Public Library offers too. 

Friday, March 4, 9:30 am, Naper Blvd Library, Sign and Play with Baby, Mealtime:
Would knowing the basics of sign language help you communicate with your baby? Join this three-week program for an informal environment to learn some basic language. The class is for babies 8-24 months and a caregiver. Each week will feature a different theme. The class will use stimulating activities, books, songs, and playtime. To participate in this class, families can register on-line or at a NPL Adult or Children’s Services desk.  Registration and a Naperville Public Library card are required. 

Monday, March 7, 4 pm, Nichols Library, Naperville Reads Bookopoly, Jon Scienszka Books
Is your family part of Naperville Reads?  Join the community wide reading event and participate in a life-sized board game. Children will answer trivia questions and complete physical challenges based on the books of Jon Scieszka. This program is for children in grades 3 through 5. No registration is required. 

Tuesday, March 8, 1 pm, Nichols Library, In The Tall, Tall Grass
What is hidden in the tall grass? Have your imagination take you away with these stories, songs and crafts about the creatures and animals that might be hiding in the tall grass. This program is for children of all ages and their caregivers. No registration is required. 

Wednesday, March 9, 1 pm, 95th Street Library, Once Upon a Nursery Rhyme
What is your favorite nursery rhyme? Whether you like Hickory, Dickory Dock or Mary Had a Little Lamb, this storytime is perfect for you and your little one. Preschool age children and their caregivers will sing songs, listen to stories and make a nursery rhyme related craft. No registration required. 

Thursday, March 10, 4:15 pm, 95th Street Library, Bookopoly: Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Do your children love Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Children will answer trivia questions and complete physical challenges based on the books of Jon Scieszka. This program is for children in grades 3 through 5. No 
 registration is required.

Language Stars will host a 30-minute program in Mandarin. This interactive program will include books, songs and activities completely in Mandarin. This program is designed for children ages 1 to 6 years old, but all ages are welcome to attend with a caregiver. No registration is required.

Wednesday, March 16, 1:30 pm, 95th Street Library, Honey, and Tigers, and Bears! Oh, My!
Come visit Winnie the Pooh and all his friends from the Hundred-Acre Wood. This program will include stories, songs, a puppet show and a craft.  Children of all ages and their caregivers are welcome.

This program is for children in kindergarten through third grade. Wednesday, March 30, 2 pm, Nichols Library, Abracadabra
Want to amaze your friends with magic tricks? Children will learn easy to do magic tricks to perform at home. Children will take home a goodie bag of tricks too. This event is for children in grades three through five. No registration is required.
