Naper Settlement's young professional association, The Punch Club, sponsors Naperville Summer Nights. The Punch Club is a group of young professionals, ages 25-45 whose purpose is to promote projects in the social services arena and the development of relationships with the Naperville community.
Naperville Summer Nights is the latest cultural endeavor to enter the Naperville Summer festival calendar. Over the 2 days, numerous musical talents will perform at Naper Settlement.
July 23 offers a battle of the bands followed by a showing of the classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. The competing bands come from the local area. The winner of the contest will be the opening act for the performers on Saturday.
July 24 presents two bands, A Rocket to the Moon and State and Madison.
A Rocket to the Moon is known for their songs "Like We Used To," "Dakota," and "Sometimes." The band has toured with acts 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship and has played festivals including the Vans Warped Tour and Bamboozle.
State and Madison is a Chicago-native band that has been around since 2005. Most recently their music has been featured in several MTV shows. Critics and fans have praised their blend of indie meets alternative danceable music.
Tickets for each night are $15. Food and beverages (including water, soda, beer and wine) will be available for purchase. Chef by Request will be serving picnic platters. No outside water, beer, soda or wine will be allowed.
Gates will open at 5 pm each day. Entrance into the concert will be on the south side of Aurora Ave., just west of Eagle St., by Naper Settlement's Martin Mitchell Mansion. Parking is available at various Naperville lots in and around downtown Naperville.
