Looking for a parade since the Southside St. Patrick's Day Parade is on hiatus. Grab your lucky green shirt and search for the pot of gold in Naperville and Plainfield this weekend.
On Saturday, March 13 at 10 a.m. the City of Naperville will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade will be held throughout downtown Naperville. The 2010 parade starts at Naperville North High School, continues south on Mill Street, east on Jefferson Avenue, south on Main Street and west on Water Street ending at the Municipal Center.
After the parade, downtown Naperville merchants will have Irish themed celebrations all day. Many stores will have spring shopping sales and restaurants will have live entertainment.
The 2010 parade kicks off at 10 a.m. from Naperville North High School, located at 899 N. Mill Street. The parade continues south on Mill Street, east on Jefferson Avenue, south on Main Street and west on Water Street to the Municipal Center.
The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade is hosted by the West Suburban Irish. All residents are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to benefit the Loaves and Fishes Community Food Pantry.

On Sunday, March 13, Plainfield will be celebrating all things Irish with its St. Patrick's Day parade. The celebration kicks off at 1 p.m at the northwest parking lot of the Plainfield High School Central Campus.
The eighth annual parade is jointly coordinated by the Village Preservation Association and MainStreet Plainfield and presented by First National Bank. The event features Irish dances, two bagpiper bands, floats and many more groups sharing a bit of the Irish. The parade route winds through the neighborhoods west of Route 59 and ends at the Village Center.
In addition to the parade, Plainfield has more fun activities for the family.
Front Street Cantina will host a traditional corned beef and cabbage meal. While enjoying this fine Irish fare, listen to the Bagpipes of Chicago's finest and original bagpipe band the Chicago Stockyard Kilty Band. Event sponsors and coordinators ask that attendees bring a desert to share.
Kids can enjoy the inflatable bouncy area courtesy of Associated Orthodontist and 95.9 The River. The bouncy area is located at Desplains and Chicago St.
The downtown pub crawl for the adults makes its return. The pub crawl starts at Gunthers North West Corner of Lockport and Vandyke Rd. at 2:30pm. Additional restaurants in the Lockport Steet area will have food and drink specials, food specials, raffles and giveaways.
If you're in a giving mood, join Finnegan's Irish Pub raise money for children's cancer. The annual St. Baldrick's Event Tent will be shaving head to support children's cancer charities. Even if you're not ready to change your "do," you can bid on some silent auction items, sample some Irish fare or raise a glass of the finest beer on the south side. The event is located at Desplains St North of Lockport St.
