More on Mondays a weekly list of family events in Naperville, October 19 - 25

Halloween is fast approaching, which means decorating, parties and so much more. Why not get into the swing of the spooky season with some of these fun local events happening between October 19 and October 25 in and around Naperville.

Tuesday, October 20 Spiders, Spiders 4-4:45 p.m.at Nicholas Library. Come in and join us as we “spin” some stories and songs about these eight legged creepy creatures. Catch the “web-tastic” puppet show and create a craft that turns YOU into an arachnid!

Thursday, October 22 Spiders, Spiders 4-4:45 p.m.at Naper Blvd Library. Come in and join us as we “spin” some stories and songs about these eight legged creepy creatures. Catch the “web-tastic” puppet show and create a craft that turns YOU into an arachnid!

Friday, October 23 All Hallows Eve - A 19th Century Halloween 6:30-10:00 p.m. Naper Settlement is bringing to life creepy characters from the 19th century. These ghouls and ghosts will be haunting the ground of Naper Settlement. This event is not recommended for young children. Tickets are $10 per person.

Friday, October 23 & Saturday, October 24 Halloween Haunted Trail 7 - 9:45 p.m. Van Horn Woods. The Plainfield Park district is presenting tractor drawn hayride through a haunted wood. This event is for the whole family. There will be popcorn and apple cider available. Children 5 and older and adults are $8 a person. Preregistration is recommended.

Saturday, October 24 Pumpkin Decorating and S'More 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at Seager Park. The Naperville Park district invites the whole family to participate in this Halloween fun. Each child will receive a pumpkin and all the necessary art supplies to create a wonderful masterpiece. Additionally, there will be refreshments, games, a hayride, and a keepsake photo. Preregistration is required by Monday, October 19, 2009. Please be sure to wear old clothing as acrylic paint is used so that it adheres to the pumpkin. You must pre-register for this event. The cost is $14 per couple. A couple is considered a parent/child.

Saturday, October 24 Trick-or-Treat at Safety Town 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Safe trick or treating will be available for children ages two (2) through ten (10) can enjoy some Halloween fun in Safety Town. The cost is $1 per child and a non-perishable food donation for Loaves and Fishes Community Pantry.

Sunday, October 25 Downtown Naperville Trick or Treat, 12 p.m - 3 p.m. Bring the kids to trick or treat in Downtown Naperville. Various downtown merchants will be passing out peanut free treats to all those princesses and superheros.

Sunday, October 25 Comcast Halloween Happening from the Naperville Park District 1 pm. - 4 pm The Naperville Riverwalk will be bustling with Halloween activity. Join Diego for a family fun Halloween event. Children are welcome to wear their costumes. Children can roam a pirate ship in Adventure Alley, navigate King Arthur's Castle and play games in Halloween Way and Fairytale Lane. The event is recommended for families with children 10 years old or younger.
